I was NEVER mistaken for an athlete growing up. I was way too skinny- like run around in the shower just to get wet kind of skinny. I tried everything I knew to put on weight, but to no avail. When I graduated high school I was 6’2” and weighed 135 pounds.
Finally, when I moved to South GA I found fresh vegetables, and homemade layer cakes, and real sweet tea...and the pounds. It’s funny how getting married and being content can change things. One day, I “woke up.” I realized I didn’t feel good all the time and I was always tired. I also realized it was because I was up to 260 pounds and down to 6’1”. That's right; I lost an inch in height carrying all that weight! I knew I needed to make a change, but for me it was about health- not appearance. I was tired of being too tired to play with my kids.
I started with a challenge to myself to drink nothing but water for a week. One week became two, which became a month, and then a year. I started to feel better, but I knew to be healthy I was going to need some direction. There was only one person I would trust to do that for me. I didn't go to Danny Copeland because he was a Super Bowl Champion, though. I called Danny because I had seen first-hand his heart to minister to at-risk kids in our community. I knew I could have faith in what God would give him for me.
I know you want me to say that I took a magic pill and it all melted away, but the truth is it was a life change. I changed the way I ate and worked the plan at COGI Athletic. Other than a multivitamin, the only supplement I used is the all-natural COGI Super-L Carnitine.
As they say, the rest is sort of history. I lost 60 pounds, as you can probably tell from the pictures. The success story, though, is that I feel better than I can ever remember. My energy doesn't run out when I'm faithful to the plan. And I have kept the weight off! I don't just have life anymore- I have abundant life. I fell in love with the process so much that along the way I became a Certified Personal Trainer myself, and I now direct the ministry arm of our team!
I would encourage ANYONE- no matter your size, shape, age, or condition- to make your change today. You don’t have to be an “athlete.” This isn't about sports or your image (though we can definitely help there). This is about you becoming healthier and feeling better than you ever have before. COGI Certified Personal Trainers are committed to helping you become stronger in many more ways than just the physical!
